Takayuki Urade, CEO, joins the consultant team for JICA’s project for logistics in Cambodia
Takayuki Urade, CEO, joins the consultant team for JICA’s Project for Strengthening Facilitation Capacity for Logistics Improvement in Cambodia by a JV consisting of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd., PADECO Co., Ltd. and International Development Center of Japan Inc. (IDCJ), and has started the field assignment on March 31, 2025. (Overall project period: January 2024 - March 2027)
For Cambodia, with its strategically important location on Southern Economic Corridor (SEC), logistics sector is critically important for the development of its economy. JICA has supported the formulation of the Logistics Master Plan, and is expanding the support to wider scope of capacity development in planning/implementation/coordination based on quantitative data and regular monitoring, as well as in border transportation under this project since January 2024.
In addition, JICA and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) in Cambodia has agreed to include the 'Regional Hub Study' in this project as a basis of further economic growth, for which Urade has been invited by the consultant team in order to develop a scenario for the economic/industry development of Cambodia up to the year 2050.
Urade, with a wide variety of research/consulting experiences in global and regional financial/industry/logistics hubs (as in the advisory work to the Council for Asian Gateway Initiative under the 1st Abe administration (2006-07), financial hub studies as an economist based in Singapore (2007-09) both at Nomura Securities, Data Collection Survey for Cross-border Maritime Cooperation in South Asia (2015-16), Data Collection Survey on Transport Infrastructure Development for Regional Connectivity in and around South Asia (2013-14) both by JICA, etc.), is expected to fully contribute to this project.
